Chris Pateman over at Lancaster Spirits co has kindly invited us up to their distillery at Lancaster Brewery to have a tour of their newly operational site and enjoy some drams too whilst we are there!
They are passionate about creating a truly unique Lancastrian spirit, and their methods and processes, including the yeast and barley strains, will definitely appeal to the whisky nerds amongst us!
Chris will be giving us a full tour of the site as we delve deep into the process of how exactly they create their new-make spirit, (and possibly take a peak at our Southport Whisky Club cask in the warehouse too!) before we settle in to The Whisky Room and enjoy a sample of the new-make spirit itself and two hand-picked cask samples, as well as three drams from our Man With The Hat range to compliment them.

At LSCo a lot of care & attention is taken at each step of the production process to ensure that we produce a high-quality spirit with real depth of flavour.
Our Brewery team begin by making a wash: a high gravity wort made from freshly milled winter barley.Flagon Winter barley is ordinarily used to produce ales, but when combined with our live Lancastrian brewers yeast, it kick-starts a long fermentation of up to 168 hours.
A long fermentation period produces a wash that is full of flavour & depth with lots of fruity esters.
Our experienced team then carefully distils the wort in our hybrid steel & copper still before transferring the low wines into our all-copper still for its second distillation.
Our methods are slow, labour intensive and designed for maximum quality.

Quality and sustainability is at the core of everything we do:
Powering the distillery and brewery with a bank of solar panels.
Drawing water from an ancient aquifer via The Bowland Well.
Creating an exceptional flavour by milling our own winter barley malt.

This will be an event not to be missed, with exclusive discounts available on the day and us being one of (if not THE) first whisky club to tour the site, it is a unique opportunity to experience the distillery as it takes its first steps into creating some fantastic whisky!
